ABOUT US
OUR HISTORY
The firm was founded in 1981 by Tony Bayus as Bayus and Associates, Inc. with a business association to Badgett Construction and offices in Old Louisville.
In 1984, Bayus and Associates merged with Anderson and Associates to form Anderson-Bayus Associated Architects, PSC, being the largest minority architectural firm in the state of Kentucky. This association enjoyed three years of work in the public and private sectors.
Nick J. Evola Jr. joined Tony Bayus in 1987 to form Bayus Evola Architects. A 15-year association produced many notable commercial, industrial, governmental and residential projects, ending sadly with Nick’s passing in 2002.
The firm carried on as Bayus Evola Architects under Tony’s stable guidance with offices in the Eastpoint Business Center, until embarking on a fresh new direction with a name change to Bayus Design Works in 2006.
The firm, now located in Jeffersontown, continues to provide quality architecture with practical and efficient design solutions under the name Bayus Design Works.
OUR NAME
Bayus and Associates Inc., Anderson-Bayus Associated Architects, Bayus Evola Architects and Bayus Design Works all describe our practice of architecture at points in time since our founding in 1981.
What’s behind the name?
Principal founder, Tony Bayus, continues to lead the firm today alongside his established and experience Team. BAYUS in the name describes the business he has built and the name that clients have come familiar with.
The word DESIGN signifies design associated with the practice of architecture. As architects, we solve building, space and construction related problems. We design solutions in the realm of architecture. Therefore, we DESIGN.
Architecture is hard work, especially if the goal is to succeed at the highest level. This is our ethic and our reputation. We also have developed a reputation that the designs of our projects are well detailed, quality practical designs, efficient, cost effective and buildable. In other words, our designs WORK. We are a collection of individuals who WORK on designs that WORK, that when built, become “WORKS OF ARCHITECTURE”, like works of art. So, we are – BAYUS DESIGN WORKS – Works of Architecture.
