ADDINGTON AIRPORT

Elizabethtown Regional Airport/Addington Field

Location: Elizabethtown, Kentucky

Project Scope:
New Construction

Project Type:
Airport Terminal / Hospitality

Status:
Under construction – estimated to be completed May 2026

This expansion to the Elizabethtown Regional Airport terminal is approximately 1,900 square feet on two floors and includes first-class hospitality spaces, welcome desk, open air stairs and elevator access to the second floor, which was not previously provided. The project will also include interior renovations to existing areas to better serve the growing need of meeting spaces, pilot lounge and rest areas, updated restrooms and a café area.

The architecture of the addition is a modern display of glass, metal and brick materials used to establish an eye-catching, significant presence as the first impression of many travelers to the E’town area. The building addition construction will be a steel frame with a clean exposed high open ceiling structure. The brick veneer columns between glass openings as well as the banded brick detail at the elevator shaft were detailed to enhance the stately image of the airport terminal and to tie the addition back to the original architecture of the building which included the banded brick. The corrugated metal panel elements, large glass openings and cantilevered entrance awnings provide function and elegance to the new image. Modern louver awnings over each of the glass openings will help improve energy efficiency and occupant comfort in the new addition along with adding an attractive architectural element to the building.
